A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE

"Countless choices define our fate: each choice, each moment, a moment in the ripple of time. Enough ripple, and you change the tide... for the future is never truly set."
- Professor Charles Xavier

The founder of the Xavier Institute, Professor Charles Xavier, is a world-renowned geneticist and psychologist holding Ph.D.s in Genetics, Biophysics, and Psychology. His first position as a professional educator was as an adjunct professor at Columbia University, teaching advanced psychology courses during the late 1970s.

In 1987, Charles solidified his commitment to the education of young students by founding Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. With the help of his colleague and fellow scientist, Dr. Moira McTaggert, he sought to provide a quality education to deserving young people of unique talents, particularly those encumbered by troubled backgrounds or difficult circumstances. He renovated his ancestral home in Westchester County, New York, and transformed it into a private boarding school. His first class of students include famed biophysicist Dr. Jean Grey and former UN Ambassador Dr. Henry McCoy.

MISSION STATEMEMENT
