CAMPUS LIVING
Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is concerned not only with the intellectual development of our students, but also their character growth and overall well-being. In addition to honing their minds through classroom assignments, the school places equal emphasis on extracurricular activities and the quality of life provided in the residential dorms. It is our primary goal that the children come to regard the Institute as their home and their classmates and teachers as family.
Campus life at Xavier's is a vibrant and stimulating experience, offering a wide selection of activities, clubs, and social events to satisfy the diverse interests of our students. The exemplary services rendered by the school staff allow students to enjoy after-school hours, but still promote self-reliance and responsibility in managing their personal affairs and resources.
DORMITORIES
Boarding policy: Elementary school students have the option of residing on campus or at home with their families. High school and college students are required to live in the Institute dorms throughout the entire school year.
Living quarters for both students and faculty members comprise the entire second floor of the Xavier mansion. Boys are assigned rooms in the east wing while girls are housed in the west. Faculty suites are located in the central area, known as the "executive residence", where the Headmaster also resides.
Assignments: All students must submit a fresh housing application each new year but are typically assigned the same quarters they had the previous year. Most rooms fit up to three residents. Doubles and singles are allocated to students with special needs.
Furniture and décor: In every room or suite, the Institute provides one each of the following furnishings for every student:
-
twin bed
-
dresser
-
closet or wardrobe
-
study desk and chair
Residents are expected to provide their own linens, blankets, bedspreads, towels, pillows, study lamps, wastebaskets, clothes hangers, and any other items needed. When planning to decorate, residents should keep in mind that no permanent changes may be made to the rooms. When repairs need to be made, residents should not attempt to do the work themselves but should notify the Residential Administrator.
RESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATOR
The office of the Residential Administrator is open 7 days a week to assist Xavier residents in matters concerning the dorms and campus facilities. One Residential Assistant (RA) is assigned to each of the three living quarters: boys dorms, girls dorms, and faculty suites.*
All requests for services, or "requisitions", must be submitted to the designated RA which will then be reviewed by the Administrator before it is fulfilled. Requisition forms may be completed online or dropped off directly at the office.
Requisitions handled by the Residential Administrator are:
-
Dorm room repairs
-
Furniture replacement
-
Reservations for use of campus facilities
-
Purchasing (limited to personal care items)
-
Transportation (car rental or taxi service)
-
Parking permits
-
Special accommodations for disabled/handicapped
* The RA for faculty suites is also responsible for special suites occupied by married residents or families.

DINING SERVICES
The Institute employs the full-time services of an Executive Chef and a staff of culinary assistants. The Chef plans the school's daily menus and oversees their execution. A resident meal plan is included in the housing contract rate for all enrolled students, faculty, and staff. This plan provides for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Mondays through Fridays, as well as for brunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays.
All three meals are served buffet-style in the student cafeteria. A separate dining hall is provided for members of faculty and staff. For special occasions and official functions, sit-down meals may be served in the formal dining hall.
