ACADEMIC DECATHLON

Advisor: Mrs. Taryn Hurlock
 

Meeting Times and Place: 

Varies during season - lunch and after school
 

Grades 9-12. A ten-event competition of the Renaissance in music, art, anatomic sciences, literature, history, ad general study of math, prepared and impromptu speech, and interview. Students needed from "A" GPA, "B" GPA, "C" GPA levels. Participants should have a love of learning.

ART CLUB

Advisor: Mr. Piotr Rasputin

 

Meeting Times and Place: 

Art Studio - Mondays 3:30-5:30 PM
 

Open to all grade levels for students interested in Art. Students will participate in a variety of activities including individual and group projects and field trips. Students can compete at Art Regionals/State and work on murals through this organization.

 

THE HERALD:

School Newspaper &

Online Blog
Advisor: Ms. Kathleen O'Driscoll


Meeting Times and Place:

Library - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 - 9:00 PM
 

Open to all grade levels. Any students (writers, artists, photographers, etc.) interested in the newspaper/journalism field are welcome. The Herald is a bi-weekly paper published every second and last Fridays. Articles are posted on the online blog daily.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS
Advisor: Dr. Jean Grey
 

Meeting Times and Place: 

Advisor's classroom – Tuesdays, 3:30 - 5:30 PM
 

Grades 9-12. Teams represent a nation and participate in a United Nations simulation. Conferences provide a unique opportunity for students to gain an understanding about the functions of the United Nations and the importance of diplomacy, debate, negotiation and parliamentary procedures. One conference each year involves a trip out-of-state to a national conference.

PERFORMANCE CHORALE
Advisor: Ms. Alison Blaire
 

Meeting Times and Place: 

Auditorium - Mondays and Friday evenings and first and third Fridays, 4:00 - 6:00pm. Some weekends closer to show dates.
 

Open to all grade levels for students who pass try-outs. Full production of major musicals that require various levels of acting, singing and dancing. Technical aspects include: sound crew, lighting crew, set building, props and costumes. All are welcome to audition or join the stage crew.
 

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Advisor: Dr. Henry MCoy
 

Meeting Times and Place: 

Laboratories - Thursdays, 3:30-5:30 PM
 

Open to all grade levels for students interested in Science. Science Olympiad is an organization developed to create a passion for learning science by supporting tournaments at regional and state levels with an emphasis on teamwork and a commitment to excellence.
 

 

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Advisor: Mr. Scott Summers
 

Meeting Times and Places: 

Library - every second and last Fridays, 4:00 - 6:00 PM


Elected positions. Student Council members develop leadership skills while planning activities to promote a positive learning environment.


THE XAVIER ORCHESTRA
Advisor: Ms. Shelby Sloss
 

Meeting Times and Place: Band Room - Wednesdays and Friday evenings (some Mondays), 6:00-9:00pm. Some weekends closer to show dates.
 

Open to all grade levels for students who pass try-outs. The Xavier Institute Orchestra works throughout the school year preparing and performing pieces for various school functions, such as Commencement. The Orchestra also holds an annual Christmas Concert.
